All Things Must Pass
There will not be a new Out There comic this Wednesday. Nor, quite possibly, the Wednesday after that.
I won’t go into detail, but things have changed since the days when I was able to crank out five black-and-white strips a week. Hours that used to be spent writing and drawing comics are now filled with other tasks: some mundane, some more engaging, but all, in their own way, necessary. Bottom line: I am no longer able to do what I used to be able to do.
From now on (or until something else changes), I will no longer be keeping to a schedule. I’ll draw a comic when I have time, and when I’m inspired to do so. The next Out There comic is half-drawn, and there are many more that have been written. So the plan is not to stop. But I’ll make no promises. You’ll see ’em when they’re done.
And while I’ll promise nothing, I’ll at least let you know what my immediate goals are. I’m going to take a break. Then I’m going to finish the current Out There arc. Then I’m going to set Out There aside for awhile and devote all my comic-creating energies, such as they are, to finishing In Here. After that, who knows? Certainly not me.
Thanks for your patience. See ya when I see ya.

And then, back to hiatus. Isn’t this fun?

And that’s all I have to say about that. For now.

I’m gonna take a li’l break.
I wouldn’t call it burn-out, because I’m still excited about all three strips, but the motivation to put in the work required to keep all three of them going once a week just doesn’t seem to be there. Basically, I want to still do the strips but I want more time to screw around and do nothing. It’s been eight years; I need a vacation.
But I’m an industrious bum (or a lazy workaholic, take your pick), so it won’t be a complete hiatus; in fact, if you’re still only reading Out There, you won’t even notice a change: this strip will continue regular weekly updates. As for the other two strips, I’m getting close to the end of Part One of In Here (it’s a three-part story), and a few weeks after that we’ll be hitting the One Year Anniversary of the third strip, Cliché Flambé. Seems like a good time to ease up a bit on both of them.
In Here will be on hold for an indeterminate time; at least a month or two, maybe more. It depends on how long it takes to churn a good number of them out; I’ll resume posting them once I get a whole bunch in the can, so that when it gets rolling again, it won’t have to stop until the bitter end. Cliché Flambé will run on a whenever-I-feel-like-doing-a-new-one basis.
Of course, I’ll let you know on this site whenever we get going again on the others. Thank you all again for your support.
